Konami just pulled back the curtain on the next big Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG booster: Maze of Machines. It's a DARK Machine-themed set packed with collector-friendly extras, including Chibi variant art Secret Rares, Collector's Rares and extended art cards. It arrives in March 2027. Here's what's confirmed so far.

Maze of Machines release dates

Per Konami's official product page:

  • Official Tournament Store launch: March 17, 2027
  • Launch: March 19, 2027
  • Konami tournament legal: March 19, 2027

Set size, rarities and pack contents

Konami lists Maze of Machines as a 153-card set. Each 7-card pack holds 1 foil and 6 Rares. Konami's rarity breakdown:

  • 6 Secret Rares
  • 10 additional Secret Rare Chibi variant art cards
  • 14 Ultra Rares
  • 21 Super Rares
  • 100 Rares
  • 1 Starlight Rare-only card

Those numbers add up to 152, not 153, on both Konami's page and ICv2's report, so expect the final breakdown to be clarified closer to launch. Konami also notes that set contents and names are subject to change.

On top of the main rarities, Konami says 15 cards will also come as Collector's Rares, and 7 cards get extended art in Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare. One of them is Summoned Skull with brand-new art. Chibi Secret Rares take the place of a Super Rare in a pack and don't replace any of the 6 standard Secret Rares.

Featured cards and archetypes

The headline theme is DARK Machines backed by "Heavy Metal" Spells and Traps. Konami has revealed:

  • Rampant Barrel Dragon (MZMC-005), a Fusion Monster
  • Pendulum Machine of Misery (MZMC-001)
  • Slot Machine 777 (MZMC-002)
  • Ticking Blast Sphere (MZMC-003)
  • Heavy Metal Bandit (MZMC-006), a Continuous Spell
  • Heavy Metal Revenge (MZMC-010), a Continuous Trap

The set also brings new cards for Cubic (tied to the 10th anniversary of The Dark Side of Dimensions), Marincess and Ghostrick. GX fans get 10 new Yu-Gi-Oh! GX cards linked to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX video game, including a variant art Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder that's only available as a Starlight Rare.

Konami also calls out some hard-to-get cards in the set: Dominus Spark, Fydraulis Harmonia and Fallen of the White Dragon. The 10 Chibi monsters include variant art of Contrast HERO Chaos, Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack, Fire King High Avatar Garunix and Bujintei Susanowo.

Why it matters

For players, Maze of Machines brings fresh support for three established archetypes plus a new DARK Machine engine to test. For collectors, the chase here is stacked: Chibi variant Secret Rares, 15 Collector's Rares, extended art Ultra and Starlight Rares, and a Starlight-only Hamon. Those are exactly the kind of cards collectors hunt and grade. The set is still months out, so the full card list will keep growing as reveals roll in.
