Three sports cards cleared seven figures over two days last week. A one-of-one Shohei Ohtani patch auto led the way at $3.24 million, a Cooper Flagg card that's still just an unscratched redemption brought $2.16 million, and a restored T206 Honus Wagner closed the list at $1.98 million. Here's the breakdown.

The three seven-figure sales

  • $3.24 million: 2025 Topps MLB MVP The Game Dynasty Black Auto Patch Shohei Ohtani, 1/1, PSA 9. Sold October 23 through Fanatics Premier, per Sports Illustrated Collectibles. The card carries a game-worn MLB Logoman patch. Bleacher Report reports it is now the most expensive Los Angeles Dodgers card ever sold at auction.
  • $2.16 million: 2025 Topps Motif Logoman Auto Cooper Flagg, 1/1 (unscratched redemption). Also sold October 23 on Fanatics, after 48 bids according to Bleacher Report. The buyer gets a redemption ticket, not a card. The finished 1/1 is set to include an on-card autograph.
  • $1.98 million: 1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagner, PSA Authentic (Restored). Sold October 24 through Heritage Auctions, per SI. Even with restoration and no numeric grade, the Wagner still pulled close to $2 million.

Two more big hits from the same week

Sports Illustrated's weekly top five, which uses Card Ladder sales data, also listed two more October 23 Fanatics Premier sales:

  • $1.23 million: 2026 Topps Chrome Dual MVP Gold Logoman Auto, Aaron Judge / Shohei Ohtani, 1/1
  • $750,000: 2025 Topps Chrome Update Superfractor Auto Cooper Flagg, 1/1, PSA 8

So Ohtani appears on two of the week's five biggest sales and Flagg on two more. That's four modern 1/1s in the top five.

A quick note on the reported numbers

SI's headline says "$3.42M," but the article body and its #1 listing say $3.24 million, and Bleacher Report and Otia both report $3.24 million too. We're going with $3.24 million.

Why it matters

  • Modern 1/1s are trading at vintage-grail money. Two 2025 Topps 1/1s outsold a T206 Wagner in the same week.
  • Collectors are paying seven figures for redemptions. The Flagg sale was for a promise of a future card. As SI put it, "Technically, this sale is for a redemption ticket to get a card at some point in the future." If you're bidding on redemptions, know exactly what you're getting and when.
  • Logomans are a big part of the demand. Three of the week's top five are Logoman patch autos.
  • Grade still matters, but it isn't everything. The Ohtani is a PSA 9, while the Wagner is restored and ungraded and still sold for close to $2 million. If you're wondering what condition does to your own cards, check out our guide on how much your cards are worth.
